Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The Ukrainian journal "Thermal Physics and Thermal Power Engineering" adheres to international standards of publication ethics and is guided by the recommendations of leading organizations:
COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)
The editorial board of the publication "Thermal Physics and Thermal Power Engineering", published by the Institute of Technical Thermal Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, adheres to the ethical principles defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when selecting and accepting manuscripts of articles.
Authors' responsibility:
Originality and plagiarism:
- Authors guarantee the originality of the submitted work
- Submission of previously published materials is prohibited
- All sources must be properly cited
- Self-citation must be justified and proportionate
Authorship:
- Only persons who have made a significant contribution to the research can be authors
- All co-authors must approve the final version
- "Gift" or "honorary" authorship is prohibited
- Changing the authorship after submission of the article is possible only with the consent of all co-authors
Conflict of interest:
- Authors are obliged to disclose all potential conflicts of interest
- Sources funding must be indicated
- Commercial interests that may influence the interpretation of results must be disclosed
Research ethics:
- Studies involving humans must be approved by an ethics committee
- Informed consent of participants is required
- Animal studies must comply with international standards
- Personal data of participants must be protected in accordance with the GDPR and the laws of Ukraine
Reviewers' responsibility:
Objectivity:
- Reviews must be objective, constructive and polite
- Personal remarks about the author are unacceptable
- Evaluation based on scientific criteria only
Confidentiality:
- Manuscripts under review are confidential
- It is forbidden to discuss articles with third parties
- It is forbidden to use ideas from reviewed manuscripts before their publication
Conflict of interest:
- The reviewer is obliged to report a conflict of interest
- If plagiarism is detected, the reviewer informs editorial office
Deadlines:
- The reviewer must complete the review within the established deadlines or report the impossibility
Editorial responsibility:
Fairness:
- Decisions are based solely on the scientific quality of the article
- All authors are treated equally, regardless of gender, nationality, institution
Confidentiality:
- Information about submitted manuscripts is available only to the editorial office and reviewers
- Authors' personal data is protected
Prevention of conflict of interest:
- Editorial board members do not participate in reviewing articles where there is a conflict of interest
- Articles by editorial board members undergo enhanced review
Corrections and retractions:
- The editorial office is ready to make corrections if errors are detected
- In case of serious violations, a retraction is carried out in accordance with the COPE recommendations
Prohibition of predatory practices: The journal categorically rejects any predatory practices:
- Publication for payment is not guaranteed
- Article writing services are not provided
- Sales are not practiced co-authorship
- Does not artificially increase citations

Procedure for considering complaints about violations of academic integrity and publication ethics
The journal "Thermal Physics and Thermal Power Engineering" adheres to the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for considering violations of publication ethics, namely: promptness, impartiality, confidentiality, documentation. The editorial board accepts complaints from authors, reviewers, readers and institutions.
Types of violations:
- Plagiarism (full or partial)
- Self-plagiarism and duplicate publication
- Fabrication and falsification of data
- Improper indication of authorship
- Undisclosed conflict of interest
- Violation of the review procedure
- Violation of human rights or research ethics
Complaint submission procedure:
- The complaint is submitted in writing to e-mail: shmorgun@nas.gov.ua
- The complaint must contain:
o specific details of the violation
o link to the published article
o evidence of the violation (if available)
o contact details of the applicant
Complaint consideration:
- Preliminary consideration by the Editor-in-Chief (7 working days)
- If necessary, an expert commission of 3-5 members of the editorial board is created
- Request for explanations from the author(s) (response time - 10 days)
- Additional examination (if necessary)
- Decision-making by the editorial board (up to 30 working days from the date of filing the complaint)
Possible solutions:
- Rejection of the complaint as unfounded
- Requirement of corrections
- Publication of a refutation (erratum/corrigendum)
- Withdrawal of the article (retraction)
Confidentiality: All parties to the process are obliged to maintain confidentiality until a final decision is made.
