The journal "Industrial Heat Engineering" was founded in 1979 by the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Institute of Technical Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and since 1996 has the status of the International Scientific and Applied Journal (Certificate on the State Registration of the Printed Media - KВ 2321 of 05.12.1996). The journal is intended for a wide range of readers (scientists, specialists) in the field of thermophysics, thermal power engineering, heat engineering, measurement, control and automation of thermal processes. All articles published in the journal are reviewed by leading specialists in the relevant fields, as well as scientific, general and technical editors.

Since its foundation (1979) and until 2017, the journal was published in the number of six issues per year, and from 2018 (after reformatting and switching to a shallow font), published as quarterly, a circulation of 200 ... 250 copies, in volume ~ 80-100 printed sheets.
The journal is issued on a regular basis, according to a schedule agreed with the State Enterprise "Press" and the "Academiperiodica" Publishing House of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The journal is included in the "List of scientific professional editions of Ukraine in the field of technical sciences" (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 07/13/2015, No. 747).
In 2009, an agreement was concluded with the All-Russian Institute for Scientific and Technical Information of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the referencing of the articles of the journal "Industrial Thermotechnics" in order to increase the awareness of the Russian and foreign scientific community with the scientific achievements of Ukrainian scientists in the relevant research areas.
In order to present the articles published in the journal to a wide range of readers, the Institute in 2009 carried out work on digitizing the entire archive of the journal for 30 years since its foundation (about 180 journal numbers) and displaying full-text electronic versions of articles of all these numbers of journals in the Internet with free access to them at Google-Scholar (according to the agreement with Google Inc.)
The journal has gained widespread recognition over the past 39 years and has received a steady base of subscribers of Ukraine, the Russian Federation, and from 2016 - Republic of Kazakhstan. The editors annually conclude agreements for the journal to subscribe directories of these countries with specific dates of the transfer of the journal to the relevant subscription agencies.
In recent years the journal is included in the "Program of support of the journals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" of the Target Complex Program "Creation and development of the scientific-industrial complex of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine".
The journal is referenced in the abstract database "Ukrainika Naukova" (Abstract Journal "Dzherelo"), in the Abstract Journal of the Russian Federation "VINITI RAS".
